The students of SPPSPTM SVKM’s NMIMS, Mumbai, conducted a seminar organized by Cipla Ltd. for spreading awareness related to "Dermatology and Gynaecology” on 29th September, 2016. The speakers for the seminar were Dr. Soma Sarkar Mukherjee (MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology) and Dr. Vrushali Rajeev Khedkar (MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology) who addressed about 80 students with the objective of spreading awareness related to dermatological and gynaecological issues. Starting with dermatological issues, Dr. Soma Sarkar Mukherjee discussed about general skin care tips and also discussed various common skin problems encountered like pimples, tanning, dry skin etc. She also explained how to combat these problems and emphasized on the need to choose a correct cosmetic product which is suitable to the individual’s skin. She suggested that people must consult a dermatologist to identify the skin type and then select a suitable skin product for greater benefit. The session was continued by Dr. Vrushali Rajeev Khedkar, wherein she focused on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). She explained the symptoms associated with it and presented an overview of the pathophysiology of the disease. The organizing committee thanked the speakers, College authorities and Faculty coordinators, Dr. Surendra Agrawal and Dr. Kavita Singh, for their support.
