REPORT FOR ISTHMUS URJJA 2016

The cultural festival Isthmus Urjja 2016, of our college; Shobhaben PratapBhai Patel School of Pharmacy and Technology Management was held on 26th and 27th of February 2016.

DAY 1 ISTHMUS

The theme for ISTHMUS URJJA is The Future Awaits! What could have been a better way than to fraternize with the illustrious company of the achievers in the pharmaceutical corporate sector.

It was a proud moment for SPP SPTM as we ushered in the 8th year of Isthmus-Urjja. From its inception, 'Isthmus' the corporate fest, has always been an epitome of industry- academia interaction for our students.

The event was graced with the honorary presence of Dr. Gaud, Director, Pharma Institutions; our Dean, Dr. Bala Prabhakar; Associate Dean, Dr. Addepalli; Mr. Yugal Sikri, Director Pharma Marketing, Sponsors, Parents, the Faculty members, Staff and Students.

The students performed the inaugural dance seeking blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Isthmus, the corporate fest, saw speakers from different backgrounds, coming and enlightening us. We are honored to have amongst us Mr. Shakti Pada Chakraborty, Group President Lupin Limited who delivered the keynote address, speaking about leadership and management to the students.

The other attraction of the morning session was talk delivered by ‘Global Leading Holistic Health Guru, Legendary Mickey Mehta. He ensured that he energized, the audience with his motivational talk.

A panel discussion on the dynamics of Pharmaceutical Industry took place. The theme for discussion being "The Changing Dynamics of the Pharmaceutical Industry”. This discussion explored different viewpoints on Career Opportunities, Adept Business Models and Impact of Start-ups to name a few.

The Panellists comprised of prominent members of the Pharmaceutical Industry itself Mr. Saleel Panse (MSD), Mr. Atri Banerjee (Johnson & Johnson), Mr. Yeshwant Nikkam (Sandoz), Dr. Anant Patil (Founder, Plasma), Mr. Ryan Viegas (Actavis) from various departments like strategic marketing, human resource management, supply chain, etc.

Mr. Yugal Sikri (Director Pharma Mgmt) shared his views on the current industry scenario with the panellists and the students.

Our dear Faculty Mr. Haresh Raulgaonkar (Faculty, Pharma Management) was the moderator and chaired the panel.

The latter half of the day saw students participating in Absolute Pharmaceutical Intellect (our national level pharma quiz competition), Controvolting (the debate) and The Ultimate Capitalist. The debate was judged by Dr. Anu Kant Mittal and The Ultimate Capitalist was judged by Mr.Deepak Gupta

The Ultimate Capitalist, this event set out to test the participant’s knowledge of stocks, analytical skills and effective marketing skills. TUC started off with 50 teams that went through 3 preliminary rounds to emerge victorious. The Final 6 teams competed to win the title of ‘The Ultimate Capitalist’.

DAY 2 URJJA

DAY 2 Urjja, the cultural fest, comprised of various events, including, Madmen, Ridiculousness, Footloose, Encore and Glitteratti. The events were judged by the who’s who of the theatre, dance and music industry, including Kautuk Shrivastava, Danielle Canute, Akash Gurav, Neeraj Yadav, Joseph Alwarez . Encore (the singing competition) went national this year.

This year, along with the prizes distributed for the various events, a best class trophy was also awarded. This trophy went to second year MBA.

On both the days, the student Comperes (Day 1: Ms. Ritham Pathak, Ms. Rosa Quadros, Ms. Aishwarya; Day 2: Mr. Gavin D’ Souza, Ms. Neela Tandon, Mr. Harsh Pandorwala, Ms. Rosa, Ms. Devika Naik supported by Ms. Tanuja Reddy backstage) hosted the event to their best & gathered full attention of the audience and really entertained them all.

The Faculty and Staff of SPP SPTM rendered whole hearted support to make this event to the scale that it was.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude on behalf of the faculty, staff and students of SPPSPTM to our Hon'ble Chancellor Shri Amrish Patel, the Members of Management of SVKM, Mentor of the School Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajan Saxena, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. M. N. Welling, Registrar Dr. Meena C. for extending their support at each step.

We sincerely thank Dr. Gaud, Director, Pharma Institutions and Dean Dr. Bala Prabhakar for supporting and encouraging us throughout this journey. Our thanks also goes to Addepalli Sir for support rendered round the year to the Committee.

We also wish to thank Ojha Sir and Chaturvedi Sir for their wholehearted supported for the event.

The Committee also thanks the support from Admin dept of SPPSPTM headed by Duseja Sir, accounts dept of SPP SPTM especially Ms. Vaishali Gangan and Mr. Manoj Jagtap.

This event was a great success and would not have been so without the hardwork of all the committee members of Isthmus Urjja headed student General Secretary, Mr. Rohan Ganorkar (B.Pharm 3rd Year) and Ms. Stuti Mittal (B.Pharm+MBA 3rd Year).

We also thank Dr Preeti Sangave (Faculty Incharge, Extracurricular Committee) and Dr Clara Fernandes (Member, Extracurricular Committee) for their support, valuable inputs and motivation at all times.
