A Guest lecture was arranged by the Guest lecture Committee on 13th September 2019, Friday29th September, 2018for the students of B.Pharm. + MBA-Ist year with speaker Dr. Tushar Garimella.Dr. Tushar Garimella delivered a guest lecture on the topic "Avenues for advanced degrees after Pharmacy and role in Pharmaceutical Industry”. He explained the importance of focusing on the basics and fundamentals of academics. He also mentioned that working in this industry, is with the ultimate goal of bringing drugs in the market which helps patients.
He also discussed about the typical structure of a global project team which includes the global project lead and various departments like clinical development, regulatory, business development, global medical affairs, etc. Next, talking about data management, which is an integral part of clinical trials, we saw the importance of analyzing data the proper way and examples of some software’s used. He then bifurcated each of the departments and explained the career opportunities available. For example, a specialization of pharmacology can help you work in a discovery group for drugs, clinical scientist, working in business development as a subject matter expert, etc. Later, we learned about some aspects of clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. All in all, it was a very informative lecture, wherein we learned about various aspects of Pharmacy, their applications and career opportunities. He also addressed the doubts and queries asked during the session. Closing words of gratitude was conveyed by Dr. G. L. Gupta.
