29TH March, 2014 | A free health check-up camp was organized by the students of "Kshamta”, Social Responsibility Forum of Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, Mumbai.
The increasing levels of health problems and the high cost of tests for the same led to the thought of this camp. The faculty, staff and students of SVKM’S NMIMS, as also people from slums in the proximity as well as the general public were invited for this check-up. Over 450 people benefitted from this camp, the diagnostic sponsors of which were ‘Virtus Wellness centre, Kasturba Health Society, Think Foundation, Madhavbaug, Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Kenia Eye and Dental Hospital and Mr. Subhash Samant’.
Virtus wellness centre carried out total body composition, blood pressure and physical fitness tests and Kasturba Health Society undertook random blood sugar testing. Think Foundation, an NGO, conducted thalassemia testing, Lupin Pharmaceuticals did the Pulmonary Function Test, while a preliminary dental and eye check-up was conducted by Kenia Foundation.
Chocolates made by members of Team Kshamta were also sold at the camp and the profits were donated to Kshamta-SRF (Social Responsibility Forum) for future community work.
The event was a huge success and the response was excellent. The general feedback was that the camp was well-organized and that more such initiatives were looked forward to.
