A workshop on Application of Design of Experiments and Biostatistics in Pharmaceutical Research was conducted in SVKM's NMIMS, Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy and Technology Management.
A total of 36 participants from various pharmacy colleges in the vicinity of Mumbai attended the workshop.
The first speaker of the workshop was Dr. Prashant Kharkar, Professor at SVKM's NMIMS, SPP SPTM who spoke on basics of biostatistics and the application of biostatistics in pharmaceutical research. This was followed by Dr. Satish Jain, Project Manager at Merck Group, Mumbai who emphasized the need of the design of experiments (DoE) studies in pharmaceuticals. After giving a brief introduction on DoE and QbD, he discussed different designs in DoE and submissions with regulatory authorities by using QbD. The third session was by Mr. Rahul Shete, QbD officer, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Mumbai covering case studies on the DOE & QbD. He discussed important terminology and their significance while working on the DoE software. The session followed by practical demonstrations on DoE Software (Design Expert) so as to bring more clarity on the application of DoE in Pharmaceutical research. The sessions were full of interaction, well taken by participants and appreciated. The workshop was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Surendra Agrawal and certificate distribution to participants.
