SVKM’S NMIMS Yuva Hashtag in association with NMIMS SPPSPTM's Kshamta and Excalibur conducted a 5.7 km marathon on the 8th of January to spread awareness about AIDS and the issue of food wastage.
The run started from JRM ground, covering the junction of the Vile Parle East West highway bridge, Cooper Hospital, proceeding to Sujoy Hospital. After taking a U-turn from the junction to Criticare and Sujoy hospital the participants raced back to JRM ground to successfully complete the 5.7 km long run.
The eventful day started with registrations beginning at 6:00 am. The participants indulged in a warm up session before beginning the marathon. The flag off took place at 7 am.
The red ribbon awareness run saw a healthy participation of over a 1000 people which included students, teachers and staff. SVKM's NMIMS SPPSPTM saw maximum support with a 19 teachers, 7 staff and students running the marathon. They also saw their Dean Dr. Bala Prabhakar run along with the students encouraging their endeavour. The marathon ended with Mr. Brijesh Yadav bagging the first prize completing the run in 18 minutes and 8 seconds in the male category and Ms. Radhika Chamaria winning the first prize in the female category completing the run in 29 minutes and 53 seconds. The participants left the venue with a huge smile on their faces after the prize distribution ceremony with loads of goodies like vouchers, coupons, key chains and red ribbons-all symbolizing the well needed awareness for AIDS.
