SPPSPTM CELEBRATED “WORLD PHARMACIST DAY 2014”

Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPPSPTM), SVKM’s NMIMS, Mumbai organized World Pharmacists Day on September 25, 2014 as declared by Pharmacy council of India and The International Pharmaceutical Federation. The event was organized by Extra Curricular Activities Committee of the School.

The event was hosted by Mr. Harsh Pandorwala, student of third year B.Pharm. Keeping in mind the theme for the day: ‘Access to pharmacists is access to health’ ,three eminent personalities from different fields of Pharmacy, namely Dr. Munir Chandiwala, Dr. Anuradha Majumdar and Mr.Chirag Brahmbhatt, were invited as guest speakers.

Around 100 students including the first year students, student members of the Extra-curricular Committee, Dr. Bala Prabhakar, Associate Dean and other faculty members attended the program.

The event started with Mrs. Alice Varghese leading the pharmacists present therein taking the Pharmacists’ Oath. This was followed by Dr.Chandniwala, Dr.Majumdar and Mr.Brahmbhatt, talking enthusiastically about the scope of Pharmacy and encouraging students, reassuring their choice of making a career in the field of Pharmacy. Dr.Chandniwala gave us valuable input about the present pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical market. Dr.Majumdar covered opportunities at each and every stage of Pharmaceutical product development, enlightening the students about the patenting procedures and Government grants. Dr.Brahmbhatt spoke and gave a presentation on Scope of Advertisement in Pharmacy. This was followed by a melodious band performance as a ‘tribute to pharmacists’ by the students of the college. The program ended with felicitation of the guest speakers by Dr. Bala Prabhakar with mementoes and bouquet. This was followed by ‘ High Tea’,during which the students and faculty members interacted further with the speakers personally.

This extremely learning, enlightening and effective program received great feedback from the students, staff of SPPSPTM as well as from the guest speakers.
