Report on the Workshop

Leadership Companion Series Ep-2, an interactive workshop on ‘Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management’, was organised by Placement Committee, SPPSPTM on Saturday, 13th September 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in online mode via MS Teams. The session was conducted by Ms. Ankita Langhnoja, Team Lead at Lupin, and gave participants an overview of the strategies, challenges and trends shaping the pharmaceutical supply chain, with special emphasis on data analytics, AI, communication skills, technical innovation and global business dynamics.

The programme began by showing how supply chain management bridges scientific expertise and process management, and traced the full lifecycle of a drug from raw material procurement and production to packaging, distribution and patient delivery, with attention to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and regulatory compliance.

The speaker then explained the core technical verticals of pharma supply chain management (procurement, planning, sourcing, portfolio management and logistics), the use of data analytics, including EXIM data, and AI-enabled optimisation, and the major growth pillars of market exclusivity, cost effectiveness, technical and quality criteria, and regulatory compliance under bodies such as CDSCO and the US FDA.

Participants also learned about career entry points such as procurement analyst, demand planner, sourcing manager, logistics coordinator, and regulatory and quality specialist, and about the skills required, including Microsoft Excel, digital fluency, communication and problem-solving.

The workshop showed that pharmaceutical supply chain management is both a technical and a strategic field, and pointed students towards promising techno-commercial careers in the sector.
