FOOD DONATION DRIVE 2019

‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’

Kshamta, the Social Responsibility Forum of Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy and Technology Management, SVKM’S NMIMS, Mumbai is an ensemble of people striving to create a positive impact in the society. The team truly believe that the world is changed through actions and not opinions.

As per the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World, 2018 reports, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates 195.9 million people undernourished inIndia.



















Additionally, the worst floods in the history of Maharashtra that hit the district of Sangli caused evacuation of 4,24,333 people across the state. Of these, 2.33 lakh from Kolhapur alone have been shifted to safer places. A total of 761 villages in 69 tehsils are affected by floods leading to extreme shortage of food.

Team Kshamta decided to begin its journey with a Food Donation Drive on the 18th August, 2019. The team was successful in providing various staples like rice, wheat, sugar and salt to around 250 needy families located in the slums around HBT trauma care Hospital, Jogeshwari East and also to the flood victims. The team anticipates that the supplies provided may last for about a month. Statistically speaking, the team was able to donate 601 kg of rice, 653 kg of wheat, 317 kg of salt and 318 kg of sugar.

Team Kshamta is truly indebted to the unending support of Dr Bala Prabhakar (Dean, SPPSPTM), Dr Surendra Agarwal, Dr Divya Suares and Dr Khushwant Yadav (Extracurricular Faculty in-charge) and the University in all our endeavours. The team is also thankful to all the faculty members and students who contributed to the drive whole heartedly. The event wouldn’t be possible without the contribution of each member of the Team.

The event was exclusively covered by "Mumbai chaufer” and "Pudhari” newspaper on 21st and 22nd August 2019 respectively.
