The Pharmquiz Department of Isthmus Urjja shined bright with their clever and intellectually stimulating quiz event, Inquizitives, designed exclusively for the 1st and 2nd year B.Pharm and B.Pharm + MBA students. The event lived up to its name, blending curiosity with intellect and setting the perfect tone for academic excitement during the fest.
The event began with palpable enthusiasm as students filled the venue, buzzing with anticipation and competitive spirit. Inquizitives Round-1 marked a powerful start, setting the stage for what would become one of the most engaging and memorable academic activities of the fest. The event aimed not only to test students’ theoretical knowledge but also to evaluate their presence of mind, teamwork, logical thinking, and subject integration across multiple domains of pharmacy education.
From the very beginning, the energy in the room reflected the excitement of the participants. The students from both years participated with eagerness, making the event lively and competitive. Interestingly, many second-year students who had taken part in the previous year’s edition expressed their excitement at returning to compete once again, eager to relive the thrill and challenge that Inquizitives brings each time. Their familiarity with the format and enthusiasm added a layer of spirited rivalry, motivating the first-year students to match their energy and skill. The volunteers from the Isthmus Urjja committee worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the seamless execution of every detail. Their efforts in coordinating photography, managing social media updates, distributing and collecting quiz papers, recording completion times, and maintaining discipline played an essential role in keeping the event organized and on schedule. Every task was managed efficiently, showcasing their teamwork and dedication.
The event officially commenced with the host explaining the rules and format of the quiz to all participating teams. This ensured clarity and fairness before the rounds began. Each team was reminded of the importance of teamwork, communication, and applying conceptual understanding rather than relying on memory alone.
The first round of Inquizitives was an ingeniously designed case study challenge. Each team was given a printed case that was creatively written and filled with deliberate errors, missing words, and incomplete information. The case studies were designed to test not only recall but also the participants’ ability to identify and correct conceptual inaccuracies. Drawing from subjects such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, and Physical Pharmaceutics, the challenge pushed students to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical, problem-solving context.
Teams were given 20 minutes to analyze and complete the case study. The rule was simple, participants were allowed only their stationary items like pens and pencils, while mobile phones and other electronic devices were strictly prohibited. This ensured that the round tested true academic understanding and not quick searches or external help. As the clock started ticking, the participants huddled in discussion, brainstorming, debating, and verifying their answers. The classroom soon turned into a lively hub of reasoning and collaboration, with each team striving to complete their case with accuracy and speed. The competitive atmosphere brought out the best in the students, with intense focus visible on every face.
Once the first round concluded, teams were ushered to Laboratory Room 605 for the much-awaited second round. This segment was designed to be more spontaneous, testing not only knowledge but also decision-making under pressure. The lab setup immediately intrigued participants on a table were placed three glass beakers, each labelled as "Easy,” "Medium,” and "Difficult.” The point system was straightforward 2 points for an easy question, 5 points for a medium one, and 7 points for a difficult question. The twist was in the choice: participants could decide whether to play it safe or take a risk for higher points.
Each chit inside the beakers contained a carefully prepared question drawn from various branches of pharmacy. Once a participant picked a chit, they had one minute to think and respond. The rapid-fire nature of the round brought a thrilling edge to the event. Participants were seen weighing their options carefully—some chose the easy route to secure guaranteed points, while others boldly went for the difficult category, aiming for a bigger score. The air was filled with excitement, nervous laughter, and quick exchanges between teammates as they strategized their moves.
The coordinators recorded each answer promptly, maintaining transparency and accuracy in scoring. The one-minute countdown added to the tension and excitement, making the lab echo with a mix of confidence and suspense. It truly became a round where students’ quick-thinking skills and calmness under pressure were tested.
As the final chits were drawn and the last answers submitted, the event reached its conclusion with smiles, sighs of relief, and loud applause. Participants appreciated the unique and creative format of Inquizitives, praising how it combined academic challenge with engaging, real-time problem-solving. The variety in rounds, from analytical writing to spontaneous answering, made it a holistic test of intellect.
Overall, Round 1 of Inquizitives proved to be a perfect blend of learning and enjoyment. It not only tested the participants’ knowledge but also nurtured important skills such as teamwork, quick reasoning, and decision-making. The event stood out for its creativity and well-structured execution, reflecting the Pharmquiz Department’s commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity among pharmacy students.
By the end of the day, Inquizitives had done more than just challenge minds, it had brought students together through the shared excitement of learning. It strengthened the spirit of competition, celebrated curiosity, and showcased the brilliant potential of budding pharmacists. The event’s success marked yet another milestone for the Pharmquiz Department of Isthmus Urjja, establishing Inquizitives as one of the most thought-provoking and memorable highlights of the fest.
