This 12th year of Isthmus-Urjja brought along a delightful set of enthusiasm, corporate zest, managerial streaks and beyond enthusiastic students shedding light on important events and providing a wonderful venture to all present. This is a record of the flow of events during our Corporate Fest titled ‘Isthmus 2020’.

Registrations this year began at 9.00 a.m., enthusiastic faces were seen everywhere. The day commenced with the lighting of the lamp to evoke the blessings of the Lord, followed by the recitation of the SaraswatiVandana. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by our Respected Dean, Dr.BalaPrabhakar who proceeded to share her vital inputs on the graceful progression of IU through the years and the importance of the Corporate arena in today's fast-paced world. Our Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Jagpreet Singh Duggal, Director, Market Access and Institutional Business, BoehringerIngelheim and our Keynote speaker was Mr. Prabhat Pandey, Head, Training and Development, India and emerging markets of South Asia, Sanofi.

As the ceremony cordially begun, Our Chief Guest, Mr. Duggal presented the audience with his choice inputs into the crucial matters at hand, industry insights and his take on the current Pharma scenario. He also shed light on how important it is to keep striving towards achieving one's goals and shared important tactics to survive in this fast-paced world. His kind words were received with much enthusiasm.


Moving on to the next esteemed speech given by our Keynote speaker for the day, Mr. Pandey enlightened us all with his crisp take on the Corporate world, highlighting important factors and brainstorming with the audience to conduct interactive sessions. The crowd responded in cheerful ways and appreciated his will to give out more knowledge!


Isthmus commenced with the first event of the day –‘API’ - the Senior level Pharmacy Quiz to test our enthusiastic contestants' knowledge with a set of well-designed questions from the Pharma Industry point of view. Teams brainstormed to give correct answers and displayed courage in explaining their viewpoints!


A documentary-making contest titled ‘Real Reel’ displayed 3 of its winning videos on the concept of Mumbai's Night Life to be showcased to the crowd to appreciate the undying efforts of the group members in securing amazing footage owing to their video-making skills.

Our next event was the ‘Wolf of Wall street’ wherein the managerial streak of our teams were tested as they were given specific technologies to be incorporated into their products and to make them sale-worthy. Their downright zeal to display their Corporate knowledge got the audience cheering for their efforts. The judge for the event was Mr. Rajesh Hedaoo, President and CEO of Corvid Pharma and a Chemical Engineer by profession. The creativity and sheer out-of-the-box thinking of the students were the main highlights of the event.


The crowd proceeded for a short lunch break post this event. They returned with enthusiastic smiles with a will to enjoy upcoming events of the day! During the lunch break, the ‘Poster Presentation contest’ was being held outside the hall, with teams presenting their knowledge in a concise and precise format.


Everyone returned for an invigorating event titled ‘Controvolting’ which was the Debate Contest hosted on-stage focussing on the topic 'The House believes that Commercialization of the HealthCare Industry is justified.' Teams cleverly put forth their opinions and counterarguments were raised to stand corrected. Their ultimate goal was to get the audience on their side. The judge for the event was Dr.KhushbuTrehan, soft skills trainer and professor at D.J. Sanghvi College, specializing in employability skills teaching.


Moving on, the last event of the day was ‘Inquizitives’ - the junior level quiz contest for our budding Undergraduates to display their primary knowledge in the field of Pharmacy, with highlights on basic concepts. Fun-filled quizzes and activity rounds were held which kept the audience at the edge of their seats as well. Teams displayed hardcore efforts in competing against the rest to answer maximum questions correctly.


The day came to a blissful end with the Prize Distribution ceremony for our Sports Committee ‘Excalibur’ as deserving students came forth to claim their trophies and medals!

This grandeur fest wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of our Dean, Dr.BalaPrabhakar, our Extra-Curricular Committee Heads, Dr.Surendra Agarwal, Dr. Divya Suares andDr.Khushwant Yadav. The Student Committee at IU 2019-2020 would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to every single person involved in making this a grand success!
