Objective: To celebrate World Pharmacist’s Day 2026 by highlighting the evolving role of pharmacists, showcasing student talent through competitive events and honoring achievements across academic and co-curricular domains.

6.    Description

The full committee of Isthmus Urjja organized the World Pharmacist’s Day event on 23rd September 2026 at the Juhu Jagruti Auditorium, transforming the venue into an engaging platform for professional learning and celebration.

The program commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony alongside an insightful address by Dr Jagannath Sahoo, Dean, SPPSPTM, NMIMS, highlighting the vital role of pharmacists in modern healthcare.

The event was graced by the Chief Pharmacists from different hospitals in Mumbai. This included:

  • Mr. Sachin Shinde, Deputy Manager of Clinical Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy, Wockhardt Hospital
  • Ms. Anamika Rajput, Chief Pharmacist, Breach Candy Hospital
  • Mrs. Neeta Pawar, Head Supply chain and Pharmacy operations, Godrej Hospitals

The invited guests were felicitated by Dean, Dr Jagannath Sahoo with a memento in appreciation of their services to the community.

Each of the invited guests shared their words of wisdom and encouragement to the participants, highlighting the very crucial role of Pharmacist in Healthcare.

This was followed by an Elocution Competition centered on the topic, "From Dispensing Medicines To Designing Healthcare: The Pharmacist’s Next Revolution.” and ‘Empowering Pharmacists for healthier future’. Nine contestants delivered compelling speeches on the expanding role of pharmacists beyond traditional dispensing.

Followed by Elocution competition was unveiling of a Pharmacology club, the Rxplore Club, led by Dr Kalyani Barve and Dr Sinjini Sarkar. The student members of the club discussed the initiatives planned by the club during the academic year 2026-27.

The drama club of SPPSPTM presented an energetic Nukkad Natak illustrating the advancing role of Pharmacist in the hospital, to medical professionals and by and large to the community.

Further, an intense Pharmquiz competition was conducted featuring four final first year B pharm student contestants testing their pharmaceutical knowledge.

This was followed by Prize Distribution ceremony.

  1. Two students from B Pharm Fourth Year and one student from M Pharm First Year awarded with Best Pharmacy Student Award. This included Bhoomi Tyagi, Jasmin Chaudhary from B Pharm and Krisha Shah from M Pharm. The students were awarded with a trophy and a certificate.
  2. Students having highest attendance in each semester of the previous Academic year (2025-26) were recognized and awarded with best attendance award.
  3. The best e-poster awards were given to the participants of Pharmacovigilance week.
  4. Winners of elocution competition and Quiz were declared and certificates were distributed to these winners.

The event concluded with solemn recitation of the Pharmacist’s Oath, led by Dr. Sinjini Sarkar.

The atmosphere throughout the program was both intellectually stimulating and inspiring, bringing together students and faculty to reflect on the future of the pharmacy profession. The Social Media teams captured key moments, candid performances, and backstage efforts, preserving the enthusiasm and success of the event.

7.    Beneficiary Group

Pharmacy students and faculty members of SPPSPTM, who gained motivation, professional exposure, and insights into the evolving landscape of the pharmacy profession.

8.    Conclusion/outcome

Overall, the World Pharmacist’s Day 2026 celebration was a resounding success, effectively blending academic exchange, creative performances and professional reverence.

By providing a platform for creativity and deeper understanding of evolving role of Pharmacist in healthcare, and honoring outstanding contribution and achievements, the event successfully reinforced the core ethics of the profession while empowering future pharmacists to drive the next healthcare revolution.
