The celebrations for World Pharmacists’ Day 2025 at SPPSPTM were marked by enthusiasm, inspiration, and recognition of the pharmacy profession’s vital role in society. The event commenced at 2:45 PM, with anchors Gracy and Abhinav setting the stage and extending a warm welcome to the audience. Shortly after, at 2:50 PM, the ceremonial Deep Prajwalan was performed by Dean, Dr. Jagannath Sahoo, Dr Jagdish Audipudy, and the Chief Guest, Mr. Jeewan A. Kolhe, formally inaugurating the program.
The Dean’s address (2:55 PM) was both motivating and thought-provoking. He began by wishing everyone a Happy Pharmacists’ Day and drew parallels with the spirit of Navratri, noting how no deity lets devotees leave empty-handed. He emphasized the power of mindset—"Think positive and you will receive positive, think negative and negativity follows.” His words also highlighted the importance of adapting to emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, urging students to foster a healthy relationship with it rather than resist it. He concluded with a powerful reminder: to be "exclusive” in order to stand out and be recognized in one’s career.
The competitive spirit of the day came alive with the Spell Bee (3:11–3:19 PM), anchored by Fiana, which engaged the audience and tested participants’ knowledge. Following this, the session transitioned to the much-awaited Chief Guest’s address (3:20–3:48 PM).
Mr. Jeewan A. Kolhe, Senior Associate Scientist at Johnson & Johnson, delivered an impactful speech highlighting pharmacists as the pillars of society and as the crucial bridge between doctors and patients. He shed light on the growing significance of biologics, the challenges of modern therapeutics, and India’s rapidly advancing pharmaceutical industry. His insights underscored the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists in ensuring effective healthcare delivery.
The interaction was followed by a brief Q&A session (3:50–3:53 PM), after which Dr. Jagdish Audipudy felicitated the Chief Guest (3:54 PM), acknowledging his contribution to the occasion.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the unveiling of the Regulatory Affairs Club – "RegSphere” (3:55 PM). Introduced by Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, the club was presented as a unique platform focused on Connections, Confluence, and Compliance. Later, Mohit and co-host Tanmay (2nd year M.Pharm students) elaborated on the vision of the club:
This launch marked an important milestone in nurturing students’ exposure to regulatory sciences. The momentum continued with Dr.Jagdish Audipudy and B-Gyaan officially announcing the National Pharma Business Case Study Challenge (4:05 PM), opening new avenues for students to engage with real-world challenges in the pharma industry. The program then shifted into lighter activities with an engaging round of riddles and quizzes (4:20 PM).
At 4:32 PM, the stage transformed into a diplomatic arena with the Model United Nations (MUN). Delegates representing South Africa, America, India, Germany, and China put forth their perspectives, showcasing sharp debating skills and a deep understanding of Brands Vs Generics across nations.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony (5:04 PM) followed, which celebrated talent and hard work across multiple events. Highlights included:
Fine Arts (PharmArt): 1st place – Vidhi Kalpatrao
Pharmquiz Winners:1st place – Ananya Tandle
MUN: Sonia Mishra – Best Delegate
Adding to the excitement, the title of Best Pharmacy Student of the Year 2025 was awarded to Darshini Shah, Kamna Tadeja, and Aira. The honor was conferred by Dr Amisha Vora and the Dean, Dr Jagannath Sahoo, recognizing not only academic brilliance but also leadership and dedication to the profession.
The day concluded with solemnity as Dr Kavita Singh led the Pharmacists’ Day Oath (5:12 PM), reaffirming the values and responsibilities that define the pharmacy profession. This was followed by a heartfelt Vote of Thanks (5:16 PM) delivered by Dr Amisha Vora, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and organizing team for their contributions. Finally, at 5:21 PM, the event closed with the distribution of food boxes, leaving the audience with both inspiration and warmth.
