Date: 26th September, 2022
Venue: Class 411, SPPSPTM, NMIMS Mumbai
A seminar was organised by SPPSPTM, NMIMS, Mumbai on September 26th, 2022 for World Pharmacists’ Day.
It was attended by first-year B Pharm MBA students and faculty members. Mrs. Manisha Pal was invited as the chief guest who addressed the gathering on the various aspects of this profession. She also shared her experience of being the Assistant General Manager-Pharmacy & Pharmacy In-Charge at Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital.
Ms. Aditi, from BPharm MBA’s first year, was the host and started the session by giving a brief history of this profession followed by our Dean, Dr. Bala Prabhakar welcoming our guest and felicitating her with a bouquet and memento.
Further our Associate Dean, Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni thanked our Chief Guest Mrs. Manisha Pal for taking out time from her busy schedule and for inspiring us by sharing her invaluable experiences.
Mrs. Manisha Pal enlightened us about how a clinical pharmacist handles the prescription and how the medicines are dispensed only if the prescription is valid. The validity period of the prescription is 24 hours. A doctor has to mention some mandatory information about the patient which is taken care of and studied thoroughly by a clinical pharmacist, unlike the local pharmacists. Clinical pharmacists form a bridge between the patients and the doctors which is contradictory to the local pharmacists. She also informed us about the side effects of the drug with some amazing examples and also emphasized the duty of clinical pharmacists to create awareness among the patients.
The Pharmacist’s Oath was delivered by Dr. Maushmi Kumar, Assistant Professor and subsequently, the winners of the Pharmacists’ Quiz and PharmTalent, two events conducted on the occasion of Pharmacist's Day for the students, were announced.
Tasty snacks and refreshments were provided after the seminar. Overall, the session was very illuminating and interactive.
